In Her Majesty's Name Gorilla

For something completely different...

I've been toying with IHMN from Osprey for a little while but had been focused on getting historical figures ready for the tournaments at Historicon. Now, I decided to work on something that didn't require camouflage painting, namely my gorilla for IHMN Lord Curr's faction. As my buddy, John, pointed out, he needed a top hat to go along with his steam punk theme.

I sculpted one last night and am fairly happy with the dilapidated top hat. (C'mon, how perfect could a gorilla keep his top hat looking?)  it should be ready to paint later today.

4Ground Row house

I received a 28mm 4Ground row house kit for my birthday - thanks Gordon.

The build on this was a little longer than my previous 4Ground kits, and it probably took about 2.5 hours total. The kit is excellent, although there are a few errors in the instructions, which had me head scratching at times.

The end result looks great. Below is a photo of the new building (in mint green) next to the bombed out row house I built previously.

Bolt Action Armor Tournament

So, I did a really poor job of taking photos during the two rounds, but I did get pictures of some of the armies in the Bolt Action Armor Tournament painting competition at Historicon.

Congrats to Chris and Judson on winning the Armor tourney.  I think their prize was an entire BA army. I was fortunate to win an American infantry box set for best painted.  Several of the armies were very well painted and weathered. It's great to see a tournament with great looking models on the table.

Historicon 2013 Day 1

Day one at Historicon in Virginia USA is getting started. I snapped a few photos in the main hall and where the Flames of War tables are being set up.

I plan to update throughout the convention.

Early morning on opening day.

Setting up some 28 mm European village.

The Flames of War area with some select tables below.

More to come later.

Pea Dot Smock

I painted one Fallschirmjager smock in pea dot. They were very rare, but a few were made.

It was a challenging camo scheme to paint in 28 mm.

Warlord Puma Finished

I finished the 28 mm Warlord Puma and will be fielding it at Historicon later this week.

The two color scheme is based on the 2nd Panzer Division, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Reconnaissance Company.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Warlord Puma WIP

Just a quick update from my painting bench... WIP of the Warlord 234/2 Puma. I'm getting this ready for Historicon.  Painting is about half finished, but I'm really looking forward to weathering this model.
